With less than one year left in his term, we knew we couldn’t count on Gov. Schwarzenegger to change his heart or his mind. But the five declared or likely candidates for Governor — Jerry Brown, Tom Campbell, Gavin Newsom, Steve Poizner and Meg Whitman — could be pressured to pledge to sign this bill if the Legislature passed it again.

We asked our members to take action by signing a petition to these gubernatorial candidates to promise to support this bill if the Legislature passed it again:
