Tell Senator Dianne Feinstein to let you into the public option

Sign our letter asking her to support a public option that is available to all Americans

Clear majorities of Americans want the choice of a public health insurance option. And thanks to the work of the Courage Campaign and other progressive organizations, both the House and Senate are proposing health care bills with a public option. There's just one catch: you might not be able to choose it for yourself.

Up to 90% of Americans might be excluded from the public option in the bills currently under consideration. That means millions of people won't have any way to hold insurance companies accountable by switching to a public option when private insurers raise rates or deny care.

Oregon Senator Ron Wyden is proposing an amendment to open the public option to everyone. Senator Barbara Boxer has already signed a letter signaling her support for the Wyden Amendment.

Please sign this letter to let Senator Dianne Feinstein know we expect her to support the Wyden Amendment as well and expect her to help pass it.

Senator Dianne Feinstein

We, the undersigned, are disappointed that we may be denied access to the public option in the bill currently being considered in the Senate, and ask that you support the Wyden Amendment to allow any American to buy into the public option.

For the public option to be most effective, it needs to have a broad pool of paying customers. Otherwise it will not be able to offer a competitive advantage over the private insurance companies, since some of the healthiest people would be barred from purchasing public insurance.

Please support the Wyden Amendment -- and allow everyone the opportunity to buy into the public option.

Sincerely,
