Courage Campaign community survey on the June 8, 2010 statewide election

It's up to you! Vote to help determine the Courage Campaign's final Progressive Voter Guide endorsements

On June 8, California voters will go to the polls. The Courage Campaign will produce a Progressive Voter Guide for the five initiatives on the ballot. As a people-powered organization, our endorsements reflect the will of our membership, so we need to hear from you about these choices.

Read the following information about the five propositions and then tell us what endorsements you think we should make. The vote of current Courage Campaign members (one person per vote) will help determine our endorsements, and we will announce the results the first week of May, when we send you the Courage Campaign's Progressive Voter Guide.

Prop 13: Seismic retrofit and property taxes - Exempts seismic retrofits from changing the assessed value of a home for property tax purposes.

Prop 14: Enacting a top-two primary for campaigns - Would change the way voters select candidates in primaries, with the top two candidates going on to the general election regardless of party.

Prop 15: Fair elections - Creates a public financing system for elections to the Secretary of State office in 2014 and 2018, funded by a fee levied on lobbyists. Prop 15 also allows for expansion of public financing to other state and local offices.

Prop 16: PG&E 2/3rds vote - Sponsored by one of California's largest electric utilities, this would require a 2/3rds vote instead of a majority vote for local governments to create public utility districts or to pool resources to buy renewable energy.

Prop 17: Mercury Insurance surcharge - Funded by one of California's largest insurance companies, this would undermine consumer protections approved by voters and allow Mercury and other insurance companies to charge much higher rates to customers.
