Demand advertisers stop supporting hate speech on LA radio

We are committed to the essential right of free speech, but that right ends when it incites hate or even violence. The John & Ken show on KFI (AM 640) is LA's hate radio. The language used on the show, recently attacking the Latino community, is on par with that of Rush Limbaugh or Michael Savage, and it reaches over a million listeners each week.

As with most radio shows, John & Ken's substantial paychecks are funded by the advertisers who buy time on KFI. Who are they? See the list below.

On September 1st, John & Ken gave out the personal phone number of DREAM Act supporter Jorge-Mario Cabrera and urged listeners to contact him. Over 450 calls later, here's a sample of what he heard:

  • "I hope somebody shoots you."
  • “You illegal immigrant piece of s%!&, motherf&%$!@. We will do everything to fight you, mother&%$!@, until you are dead. You’re all motherf&%$!@ dead.”
  • "We don't want your people here. You are dirty."
This is the direct result of how John & Ken talk about people they disagree with, particularly Latinos. And every day advertisers pay to keep this toxic rhetoric on the air. John & Ken's hate speech isn't limited to Latinos; they spread misinformation about teachers, environmentalists, and anyone else who gets in their way.
