Demand that legislators like Michael Duvall get out of bed with lobbyists

Sign the petition from the Courage Campaign and Common Cause for strong lobbying reform

Former Assemblyman Michael Duvall's inappropriate sexual relationship with a lobbyist was enabled by a lack of accountability in Sacramento. We need to fix a broken and sick culture in the capital to ensure that our legislators represent us, and not get in bed with corporate lobbyists.

That's why the Courage Campaign is partnering with Common Cause to call on the state legislature to pass real lobbying reform. This will require lobbyists to report every contact they have with a lawmaker. Sign our petition in support of political reform and getting legislators out of bed with lobbyists.

We, the undersigned, urge the legislature to clean up its own house and pass a bill reforming the way legislators and lobbyists interact with each other.

Assemblyman Duvall's actions have revealed the cozy relationships between lobbyists and our legislators. Tougher rules on lobbyist disclosure could have prevented Duvall and his lobbyist sex partner from
screwing California's consumers.

Recent polls have shown 73% of California voters distrust their legislature and believe government is run
"for the benefit of a few."

Now is the time for you to earn public goodwill by addressing the public's concerns. We urge you to provide
the reforms Californians demand and pass a bill that requires disclosure of who lobbyists meet with and the
matters they discuss, and more detailed reporting of payments to individual lobbyists.

Sincerely,
