Apply to be a Courage Campaign Deputy Field Organizer

Modeled after the Deputy Field Organizer (DFO) Program the Obama campaign utilized during both the primary and general elections, Courage Campaign DFOs are empowered to represent Courage Campaign in their communities through outreach into new areas and progressive causes. DFOs are strong leaders who are trained to recruit and empower new activists in their communities and make the commitment to organize in their neighborhoods or high school/college campuses. In order to be a DFO, volunteers must go through an application process (form below), phone interview, and commit to the following:
  • Commit 10-20 hours per week
  • Attend the DFO training retreats scheduled every 3-4 months
  • Work with other DFOs in your region to build a local plan for community engagement and regional growth
  • Focus in one or more areas:
    • Community outreach by representing Courage Campaign at local community events and in work with other progressive organizations
    • Team training and ongoing education using the Courage Academy model
    • Facilitation and empowerment of Courage teams as they take on community projects and engage in issue-based actions
