Watch "Heat" and then sign the petition to save farmworkers' lives

Ask gubernatorial candidates Jerry Brown, Tom Campbell, Gavin Newsom, Steve Poizner and Meg Whitman to support the California Employee Free Choice Act

Dear Jerry Brown, Tom Campbell, Gavin Newsom, Steve Poizner, and Meg Whitman --

We, the undersigned, urge you to pledge to sign the California Employee Free Choice Act should you be elected governor next year.

We call on you to support and protect the lives of farmworkers who toil in the heat of California's fields without sufficient legal rights or protections to speak up against unsafe conditions.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger just vetoed this bill, despite the fact that 15 people have suffered heat-related deaths in the fields of California in recent years. If you are elected governor you will have a chance to rectify this mistake and save farmworkers' lives.

Now is the time for you to earn public goodwill by doing the right thing. We urge you to stand with the farmworkers and pledge to sign the California Employee Free Choice Act.

Sincerely,

DEADLINE TO SIGN: Labor Day.
