True Christianity

I've come to believe that sometimes when someone has their heart and soul invested in a certain interpretation of the bible, no debate, no re-reading nothing can change their opinion.
I have read the bible and I have read many of Jesus' quotations. My personal take-away is that Jesus' himself said over and over to love one another and to not judge.
I think that the amount of money, attention and fervor paid by many Christians against homosexuality is extremely disproportionate to what I feel should be paid to other issues.
I don't understand the reason for this, except to think that so many of these people have homosexual feelings themselves and are very confused by them. I think this confusion comes from misinterpretations from the Old Testament and ill-intended spiritual leaders that are out to control others.
Homosexuality gets people worked up. I wish starving, poor and sick people would get as much attention and fervor.
The bottom line is that we don't live in a Christian nation. We live in a free nation where citizens are allowed to practice whatever religion they want. Or to not practice religion at all.
Right now, people of the Christian faith have a lot of power in government. But let all of us Christian's beware -- that can change and IS changing.
If we use that power for good and positive campaigns vs. going after a group of people some feel are immoral I think we can let people see what true Christianity looks like.
