The governor has been publicly distancing himself from the far right wing of the Republican Party of late, which caused them to have a rally at the convention (appropriately enough, outside the hotel) calling on the governor to veto three pieces of legislation they find abhorrent.
This so-called "triple threat" includes:
AB 606, The Safe Place To Learn Act, which seeks to cut down on discrimination in schools on the basis of sexual orientation or percieved gender;
AB 1056, which seeks to promote tolerance in public schools toward LGBT students;
SB 1437, which seeks to prohibit content in school curriculum that is discriminatory toward the LGBT community.
The gathering was peppered with signs that said things like:
Parents Will Remember in November
Don't Let Us Down, Arnold
Stop Recruiting Our Children For Your Lifestyles
