Election day is finally here! I never expected the excitement and anticipation that I am feeling.

After canvassing for 8 hours yesterday in Rural Falmouth Maine I was exhausted. The houses are literally a half mile away from each other. Canvassing the way I have in the past was not going to work here. My partner and I tag teamed our turf, she drove and I jumped in and out of the car. But on some streets even that didnt make sense so we split the last 4 streets and I jogged to all of the houses.

I met alot of supporters for Marriage Equality (NO on 1) and only 7 "YES" people, which tells me that we are doing our job identifying supporters and making sure they GET OUT THE VOTE. Our canvass team is awesome. Yesterday we knocked on 1700+ doors and had over 500 conversations with supporters who have not yet voted. The goal was to make sure they understood the urgency of voting No on 1.

Mainer's have the option to vote as early as the day before the election in their town hall so we encouraged people to vote early.

This is the first time I have worked on any thing like this. I was able to work on a few different projects and be utilized where needed. I have been on IPVR (In Person Volunteer Recruitment), Confirm Calls, Data Entry, Phone Banking, Canvassing, Coach Training, Pod Leader, Working on PePVan to set up training for Out of State phone banking. All in all I have received valuable experience and knowledge so that "WHEN" prop 8 is back on the ballot "I" am ready.

People in Maine are awesome...I am constantly being thanked for being here, for flying across the country to protect Maine's equality. Not really intending to tell my story, I find myself perfecting my "Story of Self" not only at the door but to whoever I talk to. Although I am from "AWAY" (A Maine term) I am always welcome back.
