Just arrived in Maine to work on the No on 1 campaign. The energy is amazing. Although Im exhausted from an insane flight, I am excited to be here on the battle ground for equality.
I was a bit nervous as this is my first campaign and I didnt know what to expect. When I walked into the campaign office I saw so many familiar faces. Some of the DFO's that were trained for battle were on the phone making calls, confirming volunteers and making a difference. Their energy ignited mine and I jumped right in. I got trained and started making calls, training volunteers for phone bank and coach training for In Person Volunteer Recruitment (IPVR).
As tired as I was I was excited to be here talking to Mainers about equality and getting them to come out and volunteer. As I was talking to these people I thought about the couple I am housing with. I thought about how they've been partnered for 28 years and deserve the right to marry. I am so proud to be here doing what Im doing for Sara Jane and Rita and for all same-sex Mainers.
Fired Up!
