We sent out an email today, including some wonderful testimonials from Camp Courage attendees. That is below the fold, for those who didnt.

I encourage you to take a look and also check out the photos and videos that we have up on the page. There is a short Local Fox 11 segment on Camp Courage, a slideshow of pictures, video of Cleve Jones' impassioned speech from the kickoff reception and pictures from that event.

Even if you weren't there, you can have a small taste of the experience...

Don't forget to sign-up for a Camp Courage near you and volunteer to help put one on in your area.

"At any time throughout the day I could look around the room and see a smile on someone's face, a tear running down their cheek, and the wheels turning in their head. Every moment, you could look to your left and look to your right and know that you were sitting next to a fellow soldier, someone that will be, or is, in the trenches with you fighting in the name of justice. How powerful is that?" -- Sara P., a participant at Camp Courage

Dear Friend,

How powerful was Camp Courage?

"Magical and life-changing," according to one participant who joined 221 other marriage equality activists in Los Angeles on Sunday to learn the community organizing skills that will be fundamental to repealing Proposition 8.

Astonishingly powerful, according to the quantitative evaluations of the first Camp Courage. Participants of this transformative training event rated it as a 9.36 (on a scale of 1 to 10) -- the highest of any event the Courage Campaign has ever produced.

"I've been through many training sessions throughout my professional career. Don't see these "10's" as being skewed positively. Each and every "10" is my honest assessment of how amazing this training was compared to those throughout my life. Excellent! -- Christopher S.

Modeled on the "Camp Obama" training events that helped propel President Obama into the White House, Camp Courage uses the "Story of Self" to transform personal experiences -- each participant's unique inspiration for supporting same-sex marriage -- into compelling and authentic narratives that can persuade undecided voters.

We're building a grassroots army for marriage equality. And Camp Courage kicked it off. Click here to check out the Los Angeles FOX TV news report on Sunday's training, a powerful speech given by Cleve Jones at Saturday night's reception, and a photo slideshow of both the reception and training. Then, let us know if you can attend Camp Courage, if it comes to your area:

Two weeks ago, you helped us raise $69,297 online to bring Camp Courage training events to the rest of California and build a grassroots army that can restore marriage equality to our state.

Then, to make these trainings as member-driven and people-powered as possible, we asked you to vote for where those trainings should be scheduled across California.

While the voting is still open on our web site, the preliminary results are in. The next stop for Camp Courage: Fresno on Feb. 28/March 1. Other top-ranked communities include San Diego, Orange County, Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, Riverside/San Bernardino, and the San Francisco Bay Area.

We're building a grassroots army for marriage equality. But, before we can schedule Camp Courage in communities beyond Fresno, we need to know if you are interested in coming to a training event in your area. Click here to tell us. Then check out the FOX TV news report, Saturday night's kickoff speech by Cleve Jones, and two photo slideshows:

On behalf of everyone at the Courage Campaign, we are honored to serve the people and organizations fueling the Marriage Equality Movement that will repeal Prop 8 and make our state more progressive.

Rick Jacobs
Chair

P.S. I want to personally thank everyone responsible for launching the first Camp Courage in Los Angeles: 1,494 Courage Campaign community contributors, MoveOn.org, the California Nurses Assocation, SEIU-UHW, Dr. Bill Resnick, Dr. Doug Cordell, Cleve Jones and, of course, our incredible staff: Torie, Mike, Rodney, Lisa, Lilia, David, Caitlin, Julia, Miles, Robert and Eden, as well as the numerous trainers and volunteers who made this event such an amazing success.
