Regarding DOMA

Let's help make this happen! We live in your communities, Pay Taxes, Work, Live, Laugh, Love & Suffer just like everyone else. We are your children, parents, grandchildren, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, brothers & sisters. Do we not deserve to be protected by the same laws that protect heterosexual marriage? Does my partner of 14 years not deserve the right to make choices for me should I become unable to make them for myself? Should she not be entitled to my insurance and/or pension benefits? If I were to die tomorrow, do you think it is fair that she cannot make arrangements for my final disposition and honor my last rights regarding my burial or cremation? Does everyone know that stating my partner as the beneficiary of my estate in my last will & testament means nothing because I cannot legally marry her, (the person I have shared a HUGE part of my adult life with) and she is not related to me by blood? Let us unite and become part of a movement that teaches acceptance and promotes equality. To those who adamantly oppose us, we will not go away because we were born this way.
