WHY I FIGHT?
People ask me why fight for marriage equality what makes it so important? Just the fact that we live in a society that this even still exists in should be answer enough.
It angers me that people are being treated unfairly and are denied their right to express their love and protect their families legally.
I knew after proposition 8 passed that I could not just simply sit back and do nothing to help. My faith in humanity had been cracked to its very foundation.
I am fighting for marriage equality because everyone deserves equal rights.
I am fighting for marriage equality because separate is NOT equal.
I am fighting for marriage equality because no one should be treated like 2nd class citizens.
I am fighting for marriage equality because everyone deserves the same level of dignity and respect.
I am fighting for marriage equality because Love is Love.
I am fighting for marriage equality because it is what is right not a choice
I fight for marriage equality because LGBT people are denied 1138 civil rights that heterosexual married couples are given.
I fight for marriage equality because it is a human right issue.
I fight for marriage equality because we are talking about people lives, happiness and well being.
I fight for marriage equality because LGBT people should not have to be subjected to deal with the cruelness and hate that comes from ignorant people just because they dont understand it.
You can't be afraid to ask the questions, speak up, fail or be afraid of what people are going to think about you.
I can never again allow myself to sit silently as people around me are hurt, victimized, terrorized, tortured, dehumanized and killed. Never again will I allow myself to remain silent when the rights of my friends and community are under attack.
I know it is my duty to fight for equality not just for the LGBT people but equality for all people. I am not going to tell you it is an easy thing to do because it is not. It is hard, tiring, disappointing and frustrating among other things but it is NECESSARY.
Never again would I be able to sit quietly in the back and expect that 'someone else' will fight. Read More »

Since the disappointing Supreme Court decision on May 26, 2009, momentum has been building towards placing marriage equality on the ballot in 2010. At this point, it looks like it is going to happen.
So the question is, what are we going to do about it? November 2010 is a long way away. But Team Courage Orange County is not going to wait for the signatures to be collected, for the proposition to be made official, and for the campaigns to kick off. We are building our organization NOW. We're establishing leadership positions and planning our structure. We have started recruiting volunteers. We've begun canvassing. We have more canvasses scheduled soon.
We've begun going door-to-door, talking to people in Orange County. We're telling our stories in hopes of changing the hearts and minds of our neighbors, family, and friends. We have started the conversation.
If we are going to win, we can't wait for campaign season to roll around. We need to begin this conversation NOW. The road to 2010 starts here, and we are not going to wait.
Will you join us?
