Can residents of other states sign the letter to nullify prop 8?

I created this blog because it seems to be the only way I can post a question on someone else's blog, but maybe someone will read this and help me find the answer.

Although normally a California resident, I am temporarily living out of the state. I would like to sign my name to the letter to the Supreme Court to nullify Prop 8, but I'm not sure if they throw out the signatures of of non-residents. Does anyone know if the signatures of citizens who reside in states other than California impact the decision?

Thanks for any insight anyone might have.
