Tell Controller Chiang: CalPERS must act to save the LA Times

State Controller John Chiang has the power to help stop the Koch Brothers from buying and destroying the Los Angeles Times. Controller Chiang sits on the board of CalPERS, the largest pension plan in the country with the billions invested in Oaktree and JP Morgan, who control the Tribune Company. Call on Controller Chiang and the board to issue notice to both firms: CalPERS will remove all funds that it can and never invest again with these firms if they sell to the Kochs!

End Big Oil's free pass in California

California is the 4th-largest oil-producing state, but it is the ONLY state that does NOT have an oil extraction tax. We could raise $2 billion per year to begin repairing the damage of previous cuts to public education. VICTORY: One step closer to drug sentencing reform

Thanks to Courage Campaign's work against the so-called "War on Drugs," we're halfway toward passing major drug sentencing reform. Senate Bill 649 passed out of the California Senate. Bill author Sen. Mark Leno brought it to the floor in a surprise move, but everyone in that chamber knew that 10,153 Courage Campaign members were behind it.

Senate Judiciary Committee passes Sen. Feinstein's assault weapon ban!
